The most popular DJ broadcasting software used in Second Life is probably SAM, but for many the price tag of around $300 is very off putting. However there are alternative DJ broadcasting systems and one of the best has to be Mixxx, not least because its completely free.Mixxx is one of the most comprehensive systems available and this tutorial will show you how to DJ in Second Life using Mixxx. Mixxx users can also record a show, and then upload it through the Airtime web interface on a local or remote server for collaborative or user-generated broadcasts. Streaming from Mixxx into Airtime Mixxx 1.9.0 or later includes a live streaming client which, like Airtime, is compatible with the Icecast and SHOUTcast media servers. The Shoutcast setting show above is used when you are running the Icecast/Shoutcast server. On the top of the Mixxx main screen is an Options menu. Click Enable Live Broadcasting. I have it shown in the photo. Load a track and click play. For me, that was hard to find! It is circled in the pic and shows a pause button. Starting with version 1.9.0, Mixxx directly supports live broadcasting which allows you to connect to Shoutcast and Icecast servers. Using the preferences dialogue, you can simply supply Mixxx with all information needed to establish a server connection.

Shoutcast Server Software
I can access the server through web browser (firefox)
I'm running mixxx on
Linux 2.6.27.19-5-default x86_64 GNU/Linux (lubuntu)
Any ideas of what is happening?
thanks in advanceI'm a little confused filling out the information under preferences>live broadcasting using the information I received from Shoutcast. I have 3 port numbers two of which refer to using v1 or v2 and no idea what the other one is for.

For starters, which version of shoutcast does Mixxx support?
My other question has to do with user and password. Shoutcast, (Centova) did not send me a specific user name and passwork. I've tried entering my Centova account information here and changed the port numbers around but I still cannot connect.
Can someone tell me what I might be doing wrong?
